Questions Covered:

11:15 – My 104-year-old grandmothers have an appointment to be euthanized tomorrow. She is an atheist, and I was looking for some advice on how to try and help or stop her before tomorrow morning considering that it is challenging to reason with someone whose core beliefs differ so drastically.
17:15 – A coworker gave me a new living translation of the bible but, because it is missing the books and I know does not offer the fullness of the truth how can I let him know I won’t be reading it? And what do I do with it?
20:38 – A protestant brother had once disagreed with me over the scripture regarding the good thief. So, when two people read the same words in the Bible but believe two beliefs about it, how can we defend why our “interpretation” is correct.
29:00 – Karlo just said the church needs to be the interpreter of the bible. In Isaiah 30:20-21, it explains the holy spirit should be guiding us directly. So, how and why should the church be the interpreter and not just the holy spirit.
33:52 – I have a group of friends from different denominations (Quakers, Episcopalians, evangelists, Baptists, protestants etc.). Most of my friends share the belief that God is a relative concept and religion is a construct to maintain social civil-ness. How can I explain to and defend the truth to these close friends who are also in their senior ages?
43:25 – Can absolute truth change and/or expand?
49:00 – I’ve been recently speaking with many Muslim friends and if, as Catholics we believe that all people through the grace of God can achieve salvation, is it possible for a Muslim to be saved even if they don’t believe Christ is God?

Questions Covered:

12:40 I am looking for some clarification because Joe was explaining that Jesus told the apostles he wasn’t going to be back until the end of time, but I understand that Jesus and Paul mention he will be back soon.
28:50 Why did Jesus hide his identity on the road to Emmaus from the two travelers?
34:22 – In the apostle’s creed we say “on the third day he rose again from the dead” did he resurrect twice?
35:38 – If part of the ascension is that Jesus has ascended with his body into heaven, how can we hold the transubstantiation?
41:50 – When did the ascension take place?
46:20 – In Matthew 24:36, it seems clear that Jesus does not know when he will return, but if he is also God and knows everything why does he not indicate the time of his return?
49:00 – Jesus tells the good thief that he will be with him in heaven but, if he was not Catholic, he was still able to achieve salvation through Jesus. How does this apply to those who believe salvation can be achieved without being Catholic?

Not all opposition to the idea of free will comes from atheists. In fact, a prominent strain of Christianity denies free will as it strives to defend the omnipotence of God. But does such a strategy turn God into a monster? Trent Horn explains.

Cy Kellett:
Does God decide everything or do I get to decide some stuff? Trent Horn is next. Hello and welcome to Focus The Catholic Answers podcast for living, understanding and defending your Catholic faith. I’m Cy Kellett your host. And most Christians throughout most of the history of Christianity have believed that we have a choice. Certainl…
